Credits & billing

Everything in Aurora runs on a simple model: a plan that includes your usage, credits for anything beyond it, and clear windows so you always know where you stand. There are no credit packs to buy up front — your plan already includes your usage, and credits only ever cover what you choose to use past it.

Aurora Credits

Credits are the unit behind paid usage. 100 credits = $1.00 (one credit is a cent). Your balance shows in your account, and credits are only spent when you go beyond what your plan includes.

You don't have to pre-buy credits. When you stay inside your plan, your balance never moves; credits only come into play if you turn on extra usage (below) and go past a limit.

Plans

Your plan sets how much AI usage and storage you get. Pick the one that fits and change it any time.

The Max tiers multiply Pro's included usage and storage — Max 5× gives you five times Pro's allowance, Max 20× gives you twenty times. See current pricing and pick a plan on the billing page.

What you need to use paid features

To use anything beyond the Free allowance, you need either:

• an active subscription (Pro or Max), or
• extra usage turned on with a credits balance to draw from.

If you have neither, Aurora simply pauses paid features when you reach a limit until your window resets — you're never charged unexpectedly.

Usage windows

AI usage (like Aurora Chat) is measured in rolling windows instead of one monthly cap, so your allowance keeps refreshing:

• A 5-hour window that resets through the day — handy for short bursts of heavy use.
• A weekly window for overall use.

Each message you send is recorded against both windows. As the 5-hour window rolls forward, older usage drops off and your short-term allowance comes back, even before the week resets.

Storage works differently — it's a standing amount you keep, not a window that resets. You hold onto your files until you remove them or change plans.

How credits are granted and consumed

Every paid action is metered and written to your account, so your balance always reflects real usage:

• Granted — your plan refreshes your included usage automatically as each window rolls forward. Nothing is deducted while you're inside those included limits.
• Consumed — when extra usage is on and you pass a window limit, Aurora records the overage as a usage event and deducts the matching amount from your credits ledger, per unit of usage.

Extra usage

Need to go past what your plan includes? Turn on extra usage in billing. When you exceed a limit, Aurora keeps working and bills the overage to your credits balance — only for what you actually use. It's off by default, so you're never charged by surprise.

You also set a monthly spend cap so extra usage can never run away from you. The cap starts at a sensible default and you can raise or lower it at any time; once you hit it, paid features pause until the next window or until you raise the cap.
